Which meters can Rhino read over RS232 optic head, IEC1107?
Rhino reads RS232 optic head, IEC1107 through a Rhino ED RS232, and each meter below carries its own install detail.
IEC 62056-21, still widely called IEC 1107, is the optical interface on the front of most utility-grade electricity meters. A head clips over the port and reads the meter the way a meter reader would.
Rhino reads it with an ED RS232 wired to the optical head. This is the usual route on main incoming meters, where the utility owns the meter and nothing may be wired into it.
It is slower and more limited than Modbus, so it is used where the meter offers nothing better, not by preference.
Any meter that speaks Modbus or M-Bus connects to the Rhino AP, whether or not we have set that model up before. What we have already configured is a record of past work, not a boundary. Tell us what you have at sales@rhino.energy and we will name the device you need.
