Amsterdam, September 24, 2025 – EnergySafe, a Netherlands-based energy monitoring specialist, and Rhino, the global #1 in remote energy & utility monitoring, today announced a strategic commercial partnership. EnergySafe will adopt Rhino’s cutting-edge utility data hardware and analytics dashboard into its portfolio of solutions for Dutch commercial real estate landlords. This collaboration unites EnergySafe’s trusted local expertise in energy management with Rhino’s world-leading technology, delivering accurate, real-time utility insights to help landlords drive sustainability performance and maintain full regulatory compliance.
Under the partnership, EnergySafe will deploy Rhino’s proprietary hardware and cloud platform to monitor electricity, gas, and water consumption across client properties. Rhino’s hardware can read data from over 250 types of smart and legacy utility meters in real time, feeding into a unified Rhino dashboard that provides live analytics, alerts, and reporting. By integrating this technology, EnergySafe can offer landlords 24/7 visibility into their buildings’ actual energy use and identify inefficiencies or anomalies immediately. “ Data integrity and uninterrupted flow is specialist work that is often underestimated,” noted Willem Plaisier, CEO of EnergySafe, in discussing the need for continuous monitoring. Until now, EnergySafe has focused on collecting and analyzing energy data for property owners without developing in-house devices. The Rhino partnership fills that gap by providing a robust, field-proven data capture solution. For EnergySafe’s clients, this means a fully end-to-end service, from precise on-site meter readings to actionable insights, all aimed at “unburdening property owners and tenants” in managing their energy usage.
The alliance comes at a pivotal time for Dutch real estate. Property owners are facing mounting pressure to improve their energy performance and meet new sustainability regulations. As of 2024, all existing office buildings in the Netherlands are required to hold at least an energy label C, with non-compliance risking enforcement actions by authorities. Large enterprises must also abide by the EU Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), which mandates regular energy audits and cost-effective efficiency measures. These rules aren’t just bureaucratic hurdles, they are part of Europe’s broader climate strategy, and complying can unlock cost savings and environmental benefits. Moreover, tenants in multi-tenant buildings are increasingly demanding transparency in their energy consumption (a right supported by legislation), putting additional onus on landlords to provide granular, trustworthy data. In this context, accurate utility data has become strategically important: it guides investment in energy-saving upgrades, enables verifiable tracking of carbon reduction efforts, and ensures landlords can demonstrate compliance with evolving standards. EU frameworks like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) further require detailed, audit-proof energy usage data from real estate portfolios. By teaming up, EnergySafe and Rhino directly address these needs, equipping Dutch landlords with real-time, accurate, reliable, and real-time insights into their buildings’ resource consumption. This empowers owners to optimize operations (for example, by pinpointing and eliminating wasteful consumption) and confidently fulfill stringent ESG reporting and compliance obligations.
“We are thrilled to partner with Rhino, as their technology perfectly complements our services,” said Willem Plaisier, CEO of EnergySafe. “By integrating Rhino’s hardware and platform, we can provide our clients with unprecedented accuracy and 100% insight and data coverage into their energy use, something we’ve always strived for. This collaboration strengthens our mission to completely unburden Dutch property owners in the energy transition, giving them the real-time data and tools to save energy, cut costs, and stay ahead of sustainability regulations.”
“Partnering with EnergySafe is an exciting opportunity to advance sustainability in the Dutch market,” said Xander van Baarsen, GM at Rhino. “Combining EnergySafe’s on-the-ground and data analysis expertise with Rhino’s best-in-class remote monitoring solution means Dutch landlords will have actionable energy intelligence at their fingertips. With precise, real-time utility data, they can quickly spot and eliminate energy waste, reduce their carbon footprint, and confidently meet the Netherlands’ increasingly strict environmental compliance standards. Together, we’re empowering data-driven decisions that benefit both the planet and the bottom line.”
Key benefits of the EnergySafe–Rhino integration include:
Both companies will work closely to ensure a smooth integration of Rhino’s hardware into existing building systems, with minimal disruption to tenants. Looking ahead, EnergySafe and Rhino plan to explore further product innovations aimed at helping the Dutch real estate sector accelerate its energy transition and meet climate goals.
